Critical Game 5 Goes to Host Miners, 4-1
|
Game 5 was big. So was Bobby Jones.
In leading Glace Bay to a crucial 4-1 victory over the Huntsville Rockets at Miners Memorial Park, the Glace Bay starter rose to the occasion, tossing 7 good innings. Jones threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball as the Miners defended their home field to seize a 3-2 lead in the best-of-7 Division Series.
With one out in the bottom of the seventh, Craig Carson had a game-changing hit. The Miners third baseman slammed a 2-run single off Sergio Romero, making the score 4-0, Glace Bay.
Glace Bay manager Carlos Acevedo called it "a darn good win."
Game 6 is scheduled for Friday at Ballpark of Austin in Huntsville.
