The Huntsville Rockets got a strong game from starter Danny Orfila, but it was some clutch hitting that ultimately delivered the win.
The Rockets took the 2-1 win over the Glace Bay Miners in Game 2 of the Division Series in a 9th inning walk-off. The win capped off a fine outing for the right-handed Orfila. Orfila threw 5.2 innings of shutout ball in the win, which brought the Rockets into a 1-1 tie in the best-of-7 series.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Huntsville right fielder Nick Raiff, facing Matt Westerman, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Rockets the 2-1 win.
"For the most part, I felt like I did a pretty good job with executing the pitches I was throwing," said Orfila.
The next game is set to be played for Monday, September 9th , 2024 at Miners Memorial Park in Glace Bay.
