Sheridan Blasts Blue Jays, Flyers Take Game 1, 5-3
The Newark Flyers started the Division Series in style, winning on the road against the St. Catharines Blue Jays at Engineers Ballpark by a score of 5-3 to take an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Flyers first baseman Nate Sheridan excelled. He was 2-4 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 4.

A key moment came with two out in the top of the fifth. That's when Sheridan hit a changeup from Fabian Ruiz for a 2-run single, putting Newark up, 4-0.

Newark manager Matt Conners commended his team for exhibiting "no shortage of effort."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Engineers Ballpark in St. Catharines.
