Mad Ants Beat Jesters, 2-0, to Start DS
|
Portland Mad Ants manager Will Berman knew it was a gamble to give the start to a rookie. It was a good gamble to take.
Pitching in front of a hostile crowd, 24-year-old right-hander Oscar Orduno silenced the host Joilet Jesters at Ballpark of Joilet. The Mad Ants shut out the Jesters by a final score of 2-0, to give the Mad Ants a 1-0 advantage in the best-of-7 Division Series.
Orduno was in the zone, shutting down Joilet hitters over 7 innings. Orduno, who threw 94 pitches, allowed no runs on 2 hits. He also tallied 7 punchouts.
"We did just enough to win," Orduno said.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Ballpark of Joilet in Naperville.
