Desperados, Jet Hawks Play 19 to Settle Game 1, Santa Rosa Now Leads Series 1-0
One game in and the Division Series is already looking exhausting.

The Santa Rosa Desperados and the Grand Rapids Jet Hawks needed 19 innings to settle Game 1, with the Desperados finally taking the 5-1 victory at Jet Hawks Ballpark. Excelling in the win was Santa Rosa pitcher Jon Kwait, who threw 7.0 innings allowing 1 run. The Desperados and Jet Hawks are playing a best-of-7 series.

Santa Rosa used the timely hitting of Jessie Cable to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 19th inning to put the Desperados on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 8 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Desperados manager Angel Cano, "I like our chances."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Jet Hawks Ballpark in Grand Rapids.
