In a crucial game, the Nashville Lasers put on their best show, beating the Lubbock Stampede by a final score of 2-1. Rodney Caporn threw 6.0 innings of shutout ball. Nashville and Lubbock are now tied at 2 wins apiece in the best-of-7 affair.
Had Ayden Huey not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Huey hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Lasers.
"They say the first rule of the playoffs is to win the home games," Huey said afterward. "It feels nice, but it is kind of what we were supposed to do."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Lasers Ballpark in Nashville.
