The Cleveland Brawlers defeated the Boston Whistlers, 15-6, at The Backyard. Cleveland shortstop Rich Simmer had a superb performance. He was 4-4 with a home run, a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 4 times and driving in 3. Cleveland reliever Rick Bell was the winner. His record is now 1-0. Sam Naber took the loss. The last-place Brawlers hiked their record to 39-51.

Simmer contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Cleveland in the bottom of the second. With his team trailing 3-2, Simmer took a fastball from Sam Naber and stroked the home run to right-center. His 2nd home run of the season allowed the Brawlers to leap in front, 5-3.

"No one player deserves all the credit when you win," Simmer said. "And the same is true when you lose."
