In a pivotal Game 5, the Haviland Thrashers were hoping for a big game from starter Tony Martinez. They got one.

The left-hander shut out the Riverside Wolverines, proving to be the difference-maker as he led his club to a 6-0 victory. The Thrashers took the 6-0 win over the Riverside Wolverines to seize a 3-2 lead in the best-of-7 series.

Jason Murphy helped his team take an early lead with a 3-run home run. It came in the first inning, making the score 3-0, Thrashers.

Haviland manager Bill Mason called it "a pretty good win."

Game 6 is scheduled for Thursday at Wolverines Ballpark in Riverside.
