Van Diest Heroics Not Enough in 11-8 Loss to Oakland
Toronto left fielder D.J. Van Diest had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 11-8, to Oakland at Trash Panda Field. Van Diest went 3-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 3. Tom Paolucci, now 7-6, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. Oakland is second in the National Conference South Division with a record of 52-38.

Steve McKinstry had a key at-bat with one out in the top of the first for Oakland. With the bases loaded and the Invaders leading 1-0, he grounded out, driving in 1 run.
