Austin Gets 4-3 Win
|
The Austin Desperados did just enough to sneak past the San Francisco Fire, 4-3, at San Francisco Grounds. Austin pitcher Joe Townsend, in particular, had a standout performance. Roberto Salazar was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 28 of 32 save opportunities. The second-place Desperados are now 51-39, the Fire 44-46.
John Austin, who is tied for 3rd in the AC in runs scored with 55, had a direct impact on the outcome. Austin contributed a run-scoring double in the top of the third inning to put Austin up, 1-0.
Austin told a local reporter: "My job is to go out and play as hard as I can."
