The Syracuse Scorpions besoiled an otherwise fine performance by New York designated hitter Rob Black by beating the Nightmare, 6-4, at Scorpion Stadium. Black went 3 for 4 with a triple and a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Everett Treadwell, the winning pitcher, is now 3-5. He went 5 innings, allowing 2 runs on 5 hits, while fanning 3 and walking 0. Picking up the save was 24-year old left-handed pitcher Ken Allbaugh.

Billy Totten had a big 2-run home run for the Scorpions in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Syracuse leading 3-2 and a runner on 2nd, he sized up a fastball from John Way, who finished 2nd in the AC in strikeouts with 276 in 2018, and punished it. The result was his 19th home run of the season, which put the Scorpions on top, 5-2.

Syracuse manager Ricardo Lopez praised his team's "businesslike approach."

The win has Syracuse at 34-56.
