The Long Island Torpedoes got a stellar effort from pitcher Geert Brown, helping Long Island score a win over the visiting Buffalo Bellflowers, 4-2. T.J. Hoffarth recorded the save, his 14th. With the win, Long Island goes to 24-15, while the Bellflowers fall to 27-12.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, the Torpedoes grabbed the lead when John McGrath rapped a two-out home run. Long Island was trailing 2-1, when McGrath hit a 3-run home run off David Fadely to put his team in front, 4-2.
"I still think this team can play even better," McGrath told the Long Island Bulletin.
