Mounties Pull Off Thrilling 14-12 Win in Extras
In a game featuring no shortage of runs, the Moncton Mounties defeated the Long Island Torpedoes, 14-12. One of the hitting stars was Moncton left fielder Danny Shafer. Shafer, who is tied for 7th in the NC in total bases with 105, was 3-6 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice. The first-place Mounties are 29-9.

Moncton needed the clutch hitting of Shigemori Shimizu to seal the deal. The shortstop swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the 13th inning to put the Mounties on top, 14-12. For the game, Shimizu had 1 home run and 1 single in 6 at-bats.

"I'm proud of the way we took care of business and got the 'W' today," Shimizu told the Moncton Times. "Whatever it takes."
