San Francisco Dealt 3-2 Defeat
|
The Phoenix Gladiators got a good effort from starter Bob Rehm in defeating the San Francisco Fire at Gladiators Ballpark. The final score was 3-2. In 5 innings, Rehm surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 1. He allowed 2 runs. Oscar Malave earned his 2nd save, after closing out the game.
Frank Radtke had a big run-scoring double for the Gladiators in the bottom of the second inning. With Phoenix leading 2-0 and a runner on 2nd, he got a fastball from 25-year old right-handed pitcher Tristan Fry and swatted a double to left. It was his 5th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Gladiators ahead, 3-0.
"Bob is good at sticking to his strengths," said Phoenix manager Brett Bartlett.
By defeating San Francisco, the last-place Gladiators improved to 37-51.
