Gladiators Top Fire to Even Record

Jon Wagner was instrumental in his team's 5-2 triumph over the San Francisco Fire. The center fielder was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles for the Phoenix Gladiators. The win went to Manny Brant in relief, making him now 2-3. Chris Verellen took the loss for San Francisco. Hector Berrios recorded the save, his 4th.
Ton Ariëns, who is tied for 4th in the AC in RBI with 69, helped out the Phoenix cause in the bottom of the sixth inning with a 2-run home run. For the game, the third baseman went 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"A great game, a great day," said Ariëns about the win. "I can't complain."
Phoenix is now 44-44. San Francisco is 40-48.
