5-Hit Barrage by Platzer

It was almost a perfect day for John Platzer.
The Phoenix shortstop displayed a hot bat, enjoying an outstanding 5-hit day, but something was missing: The Gladiators lost to the Mexico City Aztecs, 7-5. Platzer told BNN reporters after the game that luck was "fickle."
Phoenix manager Brett Bartlett told the beat writers otherwise.
"There was no luck today," the skipper said. "He got 5 hits because he has a solid approach to hitting and he put it all together, and we lost because the rest of us didn't put it together so well."
John Platzer singled in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Jay Sikora in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
In his 2026 season totals, Platzer has 24 home runs, .308 BA, .388 OBP, 65 RBIs and 62 runs scored.
