The Hollywood Stars and Austin Desperados played an exciting game.
The Hollywood Stars picked up a win at Hollywood Grounds, knocking off the Austin Desperados, 4-2. Starting pitcher Logan Mayhew was a big reason why. Mayhew, now 7-7, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 8, walking 4, and allowing 2 runs. Jason Hollenbeck closed it out for Hollywood, earning his 12th save.
Tim Schellin had a big 3-run home run for the Stars in the bottom of the first inning. With Hollywood leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he sized up a sinker from 23-year old left-handed pitcher Jon Cordova and punished it. The result was his 19th home run of the season, which put the Stars on top, 4-0.
After the game, Hollywood manager Alex Aguilera applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said.
The Stars, at 37-51, sit in last place in the National Conference West Division.
