Austin Defeated by San Francisco, 2-1
|
San Francisco pitcher James Dobyns did his part in helping his team beat the Austin Desperados, 2-1. The right-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. Dobyns yielded 1 run over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 3, and struck out 9. His record improves to 1-0. Picking up the save was 22-year old left-handed pitcher Ron Lombardi.
The Desperados had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Fire going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the former first round draft pick Jonathan Kober came to the plate. Kober hit a 2-run home run on a 0-1 fastball from Austin hurler Luke Scrimger. It was Kober's 2nd home run of the year.
"It wasn't easy, but we got it done," said Kober.
The loss puts Austin at 4-5.
