Lincoln Tags Long Island with 6-3 Defeat
|
Centerville Grounds was the site for Northern Conference action featuring the Long Island Torpedoes and Lincoln Princes.
The Lincoln Princes withstood a fine game by Long Island third baseman Sébastien Fleury at Centerville Grounds, to upend the Torpedoes, 6-3. Fleury was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. The loss puts Long Island at 7-10.
The Princes got a big at-bat from catcher Howie Hecht. For the game, Hecht was 2-5 with 2 doubles. He scored 2 times. In the top of the first, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 6th double of the season gave Lincoln a 1-0 lead.
"It never gets old," said Hecht. "Winning, that is."
