Mounties Score Late, Upend Torpedoes, 5-3
|
Armando Cuevas had a good game, but he could not keep the Long Island Torpedoes from falling, 5-3, to the Moncton Mounties at Centerville Grounds. The Long Island left fielder was 1-2 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once in the loss. Picking up his 2nd save was 22-year old right-handed pitcher Chris Payton. The loss makes Long Island 0-2.
Juan Balderas drew 1 walk in his only trip to the plate against the Torpedoes. With the game tied in the top of the ninth inning, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run that put Moncton in front, 4-3.
"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Balderas told the Moncton Daily.
