Mounties Handle Long Island, Snag 5-2 Win
The Moncton Mounties satisfied the home crowd at Mapleton Yards, treating them to a season-opening win, 5-2, over the Long Island Torpedoes. Starting Pitcher Alex Hernandez was the standout performer for Moncton. Hernandez, now 1-0, was the winner. In 5.1 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 7, walking 0, and allowing no runs.

The Mounties benefited from a costly error in the bottom of the seventh. With Jim Unknown at bat and Moncton leading 3-1, the Long Island miscue allowed Moncton to plate 2 and take the lead, 5-1.
