Fountain Hills Wins, Pope hits 20th home run
The Fountain Hills 23ers beat the Boston Whistlers, 8-3, at Whislters Park. The 23ers got a fine performance from left fielder Corey Pope, who was 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Nate Holyfield was the winner. Over 7.1 innings, he yielded 3 runs on 8 hits, with 1 walk and 5 strikeouts. Fountain Hills now sits at 47-40, while Boston falls to 49-38.

Fountain Hills used a clutch at-bat from Mike Townsend to capture the win. The third baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the 23ers ahead, 3-2. It was his lone hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"We swung the bats good throughout the lineup," said Fountain Hills skipper Efren Nieman.
