The Oakland Invaders rode a solid performance from 27-year-old starting pitcher Dennis Allen to a win, beating the Indianapolis Eagles, 6-1, at Eagles Stadium. The second-place Invaders lifted their record to 50-36.

Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Jim Henkemeyer? The Oakland shortstop had a run-scoring walk in the top of the second inning to put the Invaders on top, 2-0. For the game, Henkemeyer had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"Win or lose, we always try to grind it out and stay even-keeled," Henkemeyer said in reaction to the win.
