Hollywood Grounds was the site of a competitive game between the Hollywood Stars and Austin Desperados.

The Austin Desperados picked up a win at Hollywood Grounds, knocking off the Hollywood Stars, 5-3. Starting pitcher Jon Cordova was a big reason why. Austin reliever Ivan Esparza got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Steve Ray was tagged with the loss. Joe McLaughlin closed the door for Austin, picking up his 18th save of the year.

Austin needed the clutch hitting of Jake Hamill to notch the win. The third baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Desperados on top, 5-3. For the game, Hamill had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

Austin manager Tim Ward was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys played hard, they played all the way through," he said.

The Desperados go to 47-39, putting them third in the American Conference South Division.
