Fire Need Extra Frames to Get Past Desperados
|
The San Francisco Fire banked on James Dobyns and he turned in a masterful performance. The right-hander kept the Austin hitters in check. The final score was 2-1, Fire, in 13 innings. Sam Crider claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. His record stands at 2-0. Jon Messer nailed down the save.
San Francisco needed the clutch hitting of Dusty Ward to seal the deal. The second baseman swatted a solo home run in the top of the 13th inning to put the Fire on top, 2-1. For the game, Ward had 1 home run and 1 single in 6 at-bats.
Ward attributed the win to his team's "focus and intensity."
With the win, San Francisco goes to 42-44, while the Desperados fall to 39-47.
