Hofland Batters Florida State Big Time
|
It doesn't happen very often, but it did for Jim Hofland -- a 5-hit effort. He went on a rampage at Drayton McLane Baseball Stadium at John H. Kobs Field and paced the 21-1 Spartans win over the Florida State Seminoles.
After his dynamite batting performance, the Michigan State left fielder told reporters that he "just tried to get in a good count and have a good at-bat. That's all I can control."
His philosophy paid dividends today. He slammed 5 hits in 7 tries and put his name in the record book. Jim Hofland flied out in the 1st, grounded out in the 2nd, hit a two-run double in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, tripled in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off Ian Matherne in the 7th and hit a GRAND SLAM off Billy Tipler in the 8th.
Hofland on the season is hitting .321 with 6 home runs. His stats include 32 RBIs and 41 runs scored.
