Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the Cincinnati Royals and Daytona Beach Sea Turtles.

The Cincinnati Royals beat the Daytona Beach Sea Turtles, 9-2, at Leatherback Park. The Royals got a fine performance from left fielder Andrew Baltzley, who was 1 for 2 with a home run and 3 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Casey Abbott earned the win, while 23-year old right-handed pitcher Mal Burkes took the loss for Daytona Beach.

In the top of the first, Jay Bloms ambushed a 1-0 fastball from Mal Burkes and hit a 2-run home run. It gave Cincinnati a quick 2-0 lead.

"What a dismal performance," lamented losing manager Edwin Gomez.

The second-place Royals have a record of 53-31.
