Vancouver Gets 5-0 Road Win
|
At Estadio Azteca, the Halifax Heathens and Vancouver Mounties were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
The Vancouver Mounties downed the Halifax Heathens, 5-0, at Estadio Azteca. Stellar pitching by Greg Sandlin had a lot to do with it. The left-hander, who is tied for 4th in the NC in quality starts with 11, handcuffed his opponent all game. In 6.1 innings, Sandlin surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 0. He allowed no runs.
Vancouver shortstop Jimmy Jones delivered a solo home run in the top of the fifth. Overall, he went 3 for 4, picking up 1 home run, 1 single, and 1 double. He scored 1 run and knocked in 3.
"Greg was able to execute his pitches," said Vancouver manager Zaire Hyde. "Simple as that."
Vancouver has run its win streak to 4 in a row.
