Stars Topple Gladiators with Late Rally
|
Phoenix designated hitter Joe Handler was sensational. He went 3 for 4 with 2 home runs, a triple, and a walk. He drove in 7 runs and scored twice. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Hollywood beat the Gladiators, 10-7. Hollywood reliever Andy Waring picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Oscar Malave took the loss. At 35-49, the Stars are currently last in the National Conference West Division.
Hollywood got a clutch hit from Eric Daniel. The pinch hitter socked a grand slam home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was game-ender.
"There's a lot of passion in our clubhouse," said Daniel. "When we put it together we're a great ball club."
