Eagles Top Captains, 5-4
|
The Tampa Bay Captains inaugurated their 2026 season with a tough 5-4 loss in 10 innings to the Indianapolis Eagles at Ahoy Park. Starting Pitcher Ray Dappen had perhaps the best performance for Indianapolis.
Indianapolis used the timely hitting of Bobby Butler to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Eagles on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
In postgame remarks, Butler said: "I'm proud of our guys, of their fight."
