Murphy Raps Wichita for 5 Hits Friday, April 26th , 2024 Jason Murphy put on a hitting clinic at Mt. Vernon Grounds, spraying hits all over the ballpark and lashing Wichita pitchers for 5 hits in 5 at-bats. However, the offensive onslaught wasn't enough for the Mt. Vernon Cyclones, who still fell, 10-7. "Sometimes I try to pull the ball too much, so today I just went with the pitch," Murphy told reporters after the game. "It's great to get 5 hits, but it would have been nicer to win the ballgame. too." Jason Murphy hit an RBI single in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 5th, singled in the 6th and hit a two-run double in the 8th.
