Martinez Smashes 3 Homers for Sikeston
Tuesday, April 28th , 2026
Carlos Martinez added his name in the record books after an explosive home run spree against the Carson City Miners. But despite joining the select list of sluggers to hit three home runs in a game, it didn't guarantee a victory. The Sikeston Shamrocks fell to the Miners, 14-11.
In his big day at Miners Ballpark, the Sikeston left fielder went 3-for-6 with 4 RBIs and scored 3 times.
"It was just one of those days," he told BNN sportswriters in the postgame interview. "I don't know how to explain it. I'm just putting a good swing on the ball. "You would think three homers would win most games. It was good to hit 'em, but a win would have really made my day."
Carlos Martinez flied out in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Tyler Murphy in the 3rd, flied out in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Victor Duran in the 7th, hit a two-run home run off Mario Villalobos in the 8th and flied out in the 9th.
To date this season, Martinez is hitting .233 with 3 home runs.
