Going, Going, Gone! Ning Hits 3 Homers Thursday, April 9th , 2026 Mt. Vernon Cyclones third baseman Li-ren Ning sensed he was going to have a good day at the plate, but he still might have underestimated it a little. Prior to the start of today's contest with the Niskayuna Fighting Knights, Ning told teammates he was sure he would hit a home run. He did -- three times. "During batting practice I really had my swing down pat," he recalled. "I felt some thunder in the lumber." The big day from Ning pushed the Cyclones past the Fighting Knights, 8-5. To go along with the homers, he collected 5 RBIs and scored 3 runs. "I was seeing good, feeling good and swinging good," Ning told reporters after the game. Li-ren Ning grounded out in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Joe Giunta in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off Joe Giunta in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off Luis de la Piedra in the 9th. |
