Williams Wins Award for SL1 Dominance Wednesday, October 16th , 2024 Chris Williams said he thinks hitters often underestimate him, as he's only 21 years old. But he'll certainly be getting a lot more respect now, as the Santa Ana Black Aces rising star has won the Sub League 1 Reliever of the Year Award for 2024. He captured the award on the strength of his 2.75 ERA over 91.2 innings. He also had 11 saves in 51 relief appearances, 80 strikeouts and only 22 walks. He received 23 first place votes out of a possible 24. Ronnie Downard of the Little Rock Golden Gophers finished second in voting with 1 first place vote, while Gregg Daugherty of the Little Rock Golden Gophers finished third.
