Benitez Smashes 3 HR Thursday, August 29th , 2024 In a powerful performance that left the fans at Naturals Grounds buzzing, St. Joseph Mighty Mites first baseman Alex Benitez blasted a trio of home runs en route to a win, 19-12, over the Greensboro Naturals. "Everything was clicking," Benitez told the press. "My timing was good and I got pitches I could handle and I didn't miss them." Benitez shined brilliantly in the win, with 4 hits in 5 at-bats, 6 RBIs and 5 runs scored. "It's not just one guy, it's everybody," Mighty Mites manager Chris Houston said. "Alex played great but it takes more than one guy to win a game." Alex Benitez struck out in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Jim Unknown in the 4th, walked in a run in the 5th, singled in the 6th, hit a solo-shot off Jim Unknown in the 8th and hit a three-run home run off Jim Unknown in the 9th. In the current season, Benitez has put up a .366 batting average with 67 hits, 19 home runs, 48 RBI and scored 44 runs. |
