Late in the game, all eyes in Jammers Park were on Lamar Bridges as he stepped into the batter box. His 32-game hitting streak was on the line, and he had a zero in the hit column on the day. Sadly for Bridges, it was not meant to be -- the zero would stay and the streak would end.

If there was a silver lining for Bridges, it was that his Medford Desperados won the game anyway, stopping the Julian Jammers by the score of 9-0.

"Winning took some of the disappointment out of it," Bridges told reporters in the clubhouse. "Looking back on it, it was a great experience. Not too many players can say they had a hit in 32 straight games. It's something I will always remember."

This season, Bridges has posted a batting average of .361 with 172 hits in 476 at-bats, 13 home runs and 65 RBIs. He has also scored 98 runs, walked 29 times and compiled a .403 OBP.
