3-HR Binge for Slagle Against Niskayuna Wednesday, August 6th , 2025 Ontario Sunrays first baseman Trent Slagle sensed he was going to have a good day at the plate, but he still might have underestimated it a little. Prior to the start of today's contest with the Niskayuna Fighting Knights, Slagle told teammates he was sure he would hit a home run. He did -- three times. "During batting practice I really had my swing down pat," he recalled. "I felt some thunder in the lumber." The big day from Slagle pushed the Sunrays past the Fighting Knights, 8-6. To go along with the homers, he collected 5 RBIs and scored 3 runs. "I was seeing good, feeling good and swinging good," Slagle told reporters after the game. Trent Slagle singled in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Joe Giunta in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Joe Giunta in the 6th, walked in the 7th and hit a three-run home run off Juan Bravo in the 8th. Slagle is hitting .311 this season with 11 home runs, 22 RBIs and 21 runs scored. He has 33 hits in 106 at-bats. |
