5-Hit Barrage by Torres Tuesday, August 27th , 2024 5 hits in a game is a rare thing, but Newport News's Vinny Torres made it happen against the Missions. Everything came together at the plate for the 21-year-old center fielder as he collected 5 hits in 7 at-bats -- and helped the Wranglers triumph, 28-24, at Wranglers Stadium. "I'm just out there to try and help the team win," Torres said after the game, "I had some real good at-bats. I made good, solid contact and luckily no one caught 'em." Vinny Torres doubled in the 1st, struck out in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, walked in the 5th, singled in the 6th, grounded out in the 7th, hit a solo-shot off Marco Canas in the 9th, doubled in the 11th and walked in the 12th.
