Chambers Torches Wranglers for 5 Hits
Tuesday, August 27th , 2024
J.R. Chambers was a tough out and went 5-for-7 in a fine hitting display, but the Newport News Wranglers managed to overcome his performance and top the Montgomery Missions, 28-24.
"I got my pitches and I connected," Chambers said. "They all found the right holes on the diamond. Some days you hit shots and they're right at somebody, and some days they fall in. And some days you lose, no matter how well you play."
On this occasion, Chambers played well enough to get his name in the record books. J.R. Chambers hit an RBI single in the 1st, was hit by a pitch in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, struck out in the 4th, struck out in the 6th, walked in the 8th, hit a two-run single in the 8th, doubled in the 10th and hit a two-run home run off Jim Unknown in the 12th.
This year, Chambers is hitting .296 with 29 hits, 5 home runs, 18 RBIs and has scored 20 runs.
