3-HR Day for Dean Sunday, August 25th , 2024 Little Rock Golden Gophers third baseman Matt Dean sensed he was going to have a good day at the plate, but he still might have underestimated it a little. Prior to the start of today's contest with the St. Joseph Mighty Mites, Dean told teammates he was sure he would hit a home run. He did -- three times. "During batting practice I really had my swing down pat," he recalled. "I felt some thunder in the lumber." The big day from Dean pushed the Golden Gophers past the Mighty Mites, 23-9. To go along with the homers, he collected 5 RBIs and scored 5 runs. "I was seeing good, feeling good and swinging good," Dean told reporters after the game. Matt Dean hit a solo-shot off Jim Unknown in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off Jim Unknown in the 2nd, singled in the 2nd, walked in the 4th, walked in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Jim Unknown in the 6th and flied out in the 8th. For the year, Dean is hitting .350 with 21 home runs. His stats include 57 runs batted in and 74 runs scored. |
