Willin Joins 3-HR Club Sunday, August 11th , 2024 Hitting three home runs in a game is usually something to celebrate, but there was no celebration to be found at Ballpark of Spring Park after the hitting barrage from Ryan Willin. The Spring Park Green Knights dropped the contest, 13-11, to the Sikeston Shamrocks, leaving Willin with only a historical footnote as consolation. Ryan is blessed with a natural home run swing so he gets the ball up in the air real quickly," Spring Park manager Noah Lute said after the loss. "It's just a shame we couldn't win the game, too. I'm sure it spoils the day a little for him." Along with putting three in the stands, Willin went 3-for-5 with 4 RBIs and 3 runs scored. "It's rare that you actually try to hit a home run," he told reporters after the game. "Mostly you'll fail if you really try to hit one, but today I tried on the last one." Ryan Willin grounded out in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Tony Valadez in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Miguel Martinez in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Steve Ray in the 8th. Looking at his stats this year, Willin has compiled a .295 batting average, while hitting 12 home runs and driving in 28 runs. He has played in 34 games and scored 24 runs. |
