Big Day for Alvarez: Swats 5 Hits Saturday, August 10th , 2024 It was a sensational day at the plate for Alex Alvarez as he led the charge to a nifty 17-14 win over the Thunder Wolves. The Pikeville left fielder was pure misery for the Tacoma pitching staff. He left them shell-shocked with 5 hits in 6 at-bats in an explosive display of hitting. "Alvarez put the ball into play and he really hit it hard," said Alfonso Estrada, manager for the Thunder Wolves, after the game. "When you do that, you've got a good chance to do some damage. And that's what happened. I feel like we threw some good pitches, but he just put some good swings on the ball." Alex Alvarez hit an RBI double in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Jim Unknown in the 3rd, struck out in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, hit a three-run home run off Jim Unknown in the 7th and singled in the 7th.
