Woods Rips 3 Homers Against Golden Gophers Monday, August 5th , 2024 Providence Hex second baseman Jeremy Woods slugged three home runs against the Little Rock Golden Gophers at Little Rock Grounds, but couldn't win the game all by himself. The Golden Gophers spoiled his day by defeating the Hex, 8-7. "The loss puts a damper on the outstanding game Jeremy had, but people will be buzzing about this for days to come," Providence manager Dave Hale. "That's gotta be some consolation to him. But knowing Jeremy, he would have preferred a win." For the game, Woods was 3-for-4 with 4 RBIs and 3 runs scored. "The first two I got all of them and it was no doubt they were gone," Woods said later. "It seemed like the wind helped it a little on that last one. I just wish Mother Nature had helped us win the game, too." Jeremy Woods hit a solo-shot off Wilfredo Vergara in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Wilfredo Vergara in the 4th, struck out in the 6th and hit a two-run home run off Adam Begue in the 8th. This year, Woods has 15 home runs and a .296 batting average. |
