Gabel Cracks 5 Hits Monday, August 10th , 2026 Scott Gabel was sizzling at the plate. The St. Joseph left fielder blistered the Newport Unicorns for 5 hits in 5 at-bats, but couldn't prevent his club from falling to defeat, 15-14. "Gabel was too tough to get out today," Unicorns skipper Victor Sepulveda said in a postgame interview. "No matter what we threw him, he hit it. And he hit some good pitches, too. But hey, I don't mind if every game somebody gets 5 hits off us, as long as we win." Scott Gabel singled in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Manuel Pena in the 4th, doubled in the 5th, walked in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off Mark Achord in the 9th.
