Stewart Socks It to Pikeville 3 Times Sunday, June 2nd , 2024 In a powerful performance that left the fans at Mighty Mites Park buzzing, St. Joseph Mighty Mites third baseman Doug Stewart blasted a trio of home runs en route to a win, 12-5, over the Pikeville Cavalry. "Everything was clicking," Stewart told the press. "My timing was good and I got pitches I could handle and I didn't miss them." Stewart shined brilliantly in the win, with 3 hits in 5 at-bats, 6 RBIs and 3 runs scored. "It's not just one guy, it's everybody," Mighty Mites manager Chris Houston said. "Doug played great but it takes more than one guy to win a game." Doug Stewart struck out in the 2nd, grounded out in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Dan Tettemer in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off Dan Tettemer in the 7th and hit a three-run home run off Jim Unknown in the 8th. Stewart has collected 86 hits for the Mighty Mites this year, 22 of them home runs. He has also netted 72 RBIs and scored 59 runs while batting .417. |
