Blast Off! 3 HR for Byerly

David Byerly went yard three times in a Abingdon Archers victory over the Franklin Cubs at Reagor Dykes Stadium.
"I was in a groove," he said. "Every pitch they tossed up there looked like a grapefruit."
For the day, the Abingdon catcher went 3-for-5 against Franklin with 5 RBIs and 3 runs scored in a brilliant display of power hitting that led the Archers to the 14-1 win.
"I tell you what. I'm shocked because I didn't think that last ball had enough to get out," he told BNN reporters in the clubhouse following the game. "I thought it was just going to be a long out."
David Byerly hit a solo-shot off Kurt Airhart in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Kurt Airhart in the 2nd, grounded out in the 4th, walked in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off Jim Unknown in the 6th and flied out in the 8th.
Thus far this season, Byerly is hitting .184 with 5 home runs, 10 RBIs and 5 runs scored. He has 7 hits in 38 at-bats and has played in 12 games.
