Espinoza Strokes 5 Hits Friday, April 16th , 2021 There was no storybook ending. Jose Espinoza of the Corpus Christi Texans socked it to the visiting Jacksonville Nationals with a terrific 5-hit game, but his team didn't get the win. The Texans fell, 10-8, at Whataburger Field. "I don't want to sound ungrateful, but something is missing here," Espinoza complained following the loss. "When you have a great game you should win the game, too." He definitely had an unforgettable day in the batter's box, ripping out 5 hits in 7 at-bats. Corpus Christi manager Cory Schreck sympathized with his shortstop, telling BNN reporters after the game that "Jose played a whale of a game, but sometimes individual brilliance is not enough." Jose Espinoza hit a two-run home run off Matt Lavender in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, struck out in the 4th, singled in the 7th, singled in the 8th, grounded out in the 10th and hit a solo-shot off Jim Unknown in the 12th.
