Wednesday, October 23rd , 2024
The manager of the Ft. Wayne Earthquakes said he thinks Jose Valdez is only going to get better as he gets older.
He may only be 19, but it will be hard to top the shortstop's 2024 campaign, as he has been named the winner of the Southern Conference Most Valuable Player Award.
His winning campaign featured a .390 batting average and a .455 on-base percentage this year. In 128 games he piled up 205 hits, 30 doubles, 4 triples, 34 home runs, 130 RBIs and 118 runs scored.
He received 24 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Mike Ayres of the Jacksonville Nationals finished second in voting, while Chris Benedict of the Ft. Wayne Earthquakes finished third.
