Kagawa Bashes 3 HR for Moncton Thursday, September 4th , 2025 Moncton Mounties second baseman Outa Kagawa sensed he was going to have a good day at the plate, but he still might have underestimated it a little. Prior to the start of today's contest with the Long Island Torpedoes, Kagawa told teammates he was sure he would hit a home run. He did -- three times. "During batting practice I really had my swing down pat," he recalled. "I felt some thunder in the lumber." The big day from Kagawa pushed the Mounties past the Torpedoes, 37-9. To go along with the homers, he collected 4 RBIs and scored 3 runs. "I was seeing good, feeling good and swinging good," Kagawa told reporters after the game. Outa Kagawa hit a two-run home run off Malcolm Robinson in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Bruno Guarani in the 3rd, doubled in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Katsutoshi Watanabe in the 5th, struck out in the 6th, struck out in the 7th, grounded out in the 8th and walked in the 8th. Kagawa is batting at a .327 pace this season, picking up 147 hits in 449 at-bats with 27 home runs, 103 RBIs and 89 runs scored. |
