A jubilant Aaron Nelson joined the postgame press conference at Mapleton Yards to offer some unusual words of encouragement -- for the Long Island Torpedoes pitching staff he had just vanquished.

"It may not have looked like it," said the Moncton Mounties first baseman, "but I saw some awful good pitches today. If luck hadn't been on my side it might have turned out a lot different."

That would not have been the conclusion of anyone who saw his dominant 5-for-5 hitting performance, which led to the 37-9 Mounties win.

"He made it look easy," said Moises Gonzalez, manager of the Torpedoes. "We never figured out what to do with him. Obviously."

Aaron Nelson walked in the 1st, walked in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, was hit by a pitch in the 6th, singled in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off Jim Unknown in the 8th.

This season, Nelson has banged out 60 hits in 108 at-bats for a .556 average with 14 home runs. He is getting on base at a .639 pace and his totals also include 41 RBIs and 46 runs scored.
