Valdez Put in Cooler, Hitless Against Haviland
Sunday, August 31st , 2025
Ft. Wayne shortstop Jose Valdez experienced something against the Haviland Thrashers he hadn't experienced a while: a hitless game.
The Thrashers pitching corps quieted his hot bat and snapped his streak at 25 games, but his teammates picked up the slack to lead the Earthquakes to a 2-1 victory at Earthquakes Stadium.
"Hey, ain't nothin' bad about a losing a 25-game hitting streak," Valdez joked with reporters after the game. "Now you guys will have to find someone else to bother for stories."
Currently Valdez is batting .467 with 236 hits and 40 home runs. He has knocked in 147 runs and scored 172 times.
