Ft. Wayne Snaps McFarland Streak at 60
Thursday, August 21st , 2025
Bobby McFarland came rolling into today's game against the Ft. Wayne Earthquakes with a 60-game hitting string, but he left it on the field at Earthquakes Stadium.
The 18-year-old Jacksonville Nationals second baseman went 0-for-4 against the Earthquakes as the Nationals fell, 12-0.
"I swung at a couple pitches I probably shouldn't have and I didn't swing at a couple I probably should have," he said, grimacing. "But that's what makes a hit streak so impressive in the first place -- it only takes a couple mistakes to end it all."
This season in 61 games, McFarland has hit at a .504 clip with 130 hits, 25 home runs, 92 RBIs and 80 runs scored.
